Global Solutions Pittsburgh empowering young leaders

by Bernard-Charles

Leadership book in Pittsburgh photoThis weekend I had the opportunity to attend the 2nd annual Student Empowership conference at Carlow University. It was a free event that teaches students and young professionals how to be active and engaging leaders in their communities.

Ali McMutrie, founder of Haitian Families First, spoke at the conference during lunch and it suddenly occurred to me that this genuine soul and her sister appeared on Ellen in March. Now, we all know how awesome Ellen is and if they made it on the show then there is a story to be heard. (Those tutu toddlers are a different story though.)

Ali shared her story like many of the other speakers and I was astounded that Pittsburgh sprouted so many wonderful souls that I haven’t stumbled upon before. I had to constantly hold back my enthusiasm and if I didn’t; I would be cheering so loud and it would be rather disrespectful. But things like this make me feel so empowered. Why should I keep it all to myself?

To share this joy of Pittsburgh and leadership with one of my lucky followers, I managed to get an extra copy of Empowered in Pittsburgh. A collection of stories and insights from various leaders in the Pittsburgh community like Lindsey Smith from FoodMoodGirl.com to help you find your way to becoming a leader. It is signed too!
